Terezín Summer School

The concerts programmes are compiled of compositions by authors who have spent a significant creative part of their lives in the Terezín ghetto. The evening city will be resounded tones by so-called Terezín composers: Hans Krása, Pavel Haas, Gideon Kleina and Viktor Ullmann, as well as a composer Ilse Weber, who left an indelible mark in the Terezín camp with her children songs. In addition to composers, who mostly laid down their lives in Terezín, the repertoire of concerts focuses on the female composers - works by Vítězslava Kaprálová, Marie Herz will be presented.  Audience will also hear the work by the greates Czech composers Leoš Janáček and Antonín Dvořák. 

Three of the four concerts will be performed by the student orchestra of the University of Music and Dance from Cologne under the lead of prof. Dr. Florence Millet.

The dramaturgy of student concerts was prepared jointly by prof. Dr. Florence Millet, Dr. Kai Hinrich Müller and prof. PHDr. Lubomír Spurný, Ph.D.

The partners of the event are Masaryk University, the City of Terezín, Terezín Memorial, Foundation for Holocaust Victims, EchoSpore, Deutsche Bank Stiftung, Stiftung Lichterfeld. Summer School in Terezín is supported by the Embassy of the Federal Republic Germany.
