The Loutky v nemocnici association devotes to dramatherapy, pursuing a plethora of psycho-social care activities. For 19 years, it has focused on delighting children and senior citizens in hospitals and other medical facilities. Puppets can often act on patients more effectively than pills – they can improve mood, make one laugh, alleviate homesickness, help forget about pain and anguish for a while, regardless of whether you are 8 or 88, whether you look forward to early recovery or you know there is nowhere to return. By giving performances, through song and game, Loutky v nemocnici aims to facilitate the therapeutic process, and opens scope to play and sharing that which the patients go through. Every year, Loutky v nemocnici sees tens of thousands of hospitalised patients within more than 1,200 visits throughout the Czech Republic.
