The Eternal Hope Festival opened with a concert at the State Opera
On Sunday, 24 October, the State Opera hosted another concert as part of the Musica non grata series entitled Music of Terezín Composers, which was also the opening of the Eternal Hope Festival. Martina Kociánová, the moderator, guided the audience through the fascinating evening. The programme featured two compositions by Pavel Haas performed by the State Opera Orchestra under the baton of Olga Machoňová Pavlů, featuring the soloist Vilém Veverka (oboe). Antonín Dvořák's Serenade for Strings (1st and 2nd movements) was performed as a hommage to the Czech conductor Karel Ančerl. The next part of the concert featured Gideon Klein's Patria and Viktor Ullman's opera The Emperor of Atlantis. As a reminder of the writer Arnošt Lustig, his texts were recited by actors Vilma Cibulková and Tomáš Töpfer in a literary adaptation and directed by Eva Lustigová.
