The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Germany visited the State Opera
On the occasion of the state visit of the German presidential couple to the Czech Republic, the First Lady of Germany, Mrs. Elke Büdenbender, also visited the building of the State Opera in Prague. After a welcome by Jan Burian, Director General of the National Theater, and Per Boy Hansen, Artistic Director of the Opera, who guided her through newly renovated Opera building - the former New German Theater - an unique hour-long concert followed. Concert compiled from work by Czech and German women composers is also a teaser for the next theatre season.
The program titled Composer in the First Czechoslovak Republiccreated by a German musicologist Dr. Kai Hinrich Müller presented works by Ilse Weberová, Julia Reisserová, Sláva Vorlová, Ema Destinnová, Agnes Tyrell and Vítězslava Kaprálová. The soloists Kateřina Kněžíková and the musicians Zdeněk Klauda, Martin Levický, Alexandra Borodulina and Karel-Heinz Steffens performed 6 works, some of them in our territory after many decades.
